About the Program
The gmem - national centre for musical creation in Marseille - and Camargo Foundation have been collaborating since 2014. In 2018, the two organizations partnered with the International Contemporary Ensemble (ICE) in order to welcome three composers at the Camargo Foundation.
In 2020, after the period of lockdown and crisis in the performing arts, the two organizations joined forces to help composers from the southern Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region reconnect with their creativity and the public. From July until the end of September, four winning artists chosen from a call for projects imagined original forms of building relationships with the public - sound walks, landscape recordings and performances. These experiences were an artistic immersion in the geography, elements, and vegetation of the Calanques.
From 2020, the gmem and Camargo Foundation also work together on a long-term residency (2020-2022) with French composer Jean-Luc Hervé.

About the Partner
The gmem is one of the six French National Centers for Contemporary Music, based in Marseille. Founded in 1972, its core mission is to foster the production, diffusion, transmission and research on contemporary music. In parallel, it also advocates for a multidimensional approach by sponsoring projects which weave music with technology and digital breakthroughs, while trying to fulfill a larger pedagogical goal by providing its audience with educational programs and public presentations of its various activities.
