About the Program

The Goethe-Institut and the Camargo Foundation have been working hand in hand since 2014 to support one international project led by artists and scholars every year, and to welcome them in the Aix-Marseille-Provence area. The residency’s theme or emphasis is determined on an annual basis. It is conceived on the current challenges and conundra in Europe and the Mediterrenean Basin, the main focus of the Goethe Institut and the Camargo Foundation.

About the Partner

The Goethe-Institut is the Federal Republic of Germany’s cultural institute, active worldwide. It promotes the study of German abroad and encourage international cultural exchange.

Eligibility

Applicants must be professionals actively working in the following fields: arts, academia, or thought (such as urban planners, architects, philosophers, curators, critics, etc.). At least one group member must have his/her principal residence in Germany. Preference will be given to teams that include a member from a Mediterranean country (including the Région Provence-Alpes-Côte-D’Azur, European countries as well as countries of the Southern and Eastern Mediterranean region). Teams can be composed of two to four members.

Stipend

An overall one-time stipend of €2,500 will be granted to the selected project to cover expenditures associated with the residency (including travel expenses and reimbursement for any of the selected artists’ or scholars’ material costs).

Length

3 to 6 weeks according to the project.
